This is the "Digitized Service Society" blog - a blog maintained by Christian Wernberg-Tougaard. The reason for this blog is simple: We are currently transforming our knowledge society into the next-generation society - which I have labeled the Digitized Service Society. The reason for this is that it will be pervasive in the use of technology, it will be service-oriented and it will be dependent on ICT. I wish - together with you - to explore the prerequisites of actions of today in order to secure a much better realisation of the world of tomorrow.

Council of Greater IT-security

Posted by Christian Wernberg-Tougaard on Sunday, May 25. 2008 at 09:14 in Impact on society

This week the Danish Council of Greater IT-security has been inaugurated - and I'm pleased to announce that I have been elected Chairman of the Board

As this is a new organisation supported by 21 organisations and it-security experts being Chairman means hard work. And we have big ambitions ...

Column IX: Full speed forward

Posted by Christian Wernberg-Tougaard on Saturday, May 24. 2008 at 12:29 in Impact on society
In my 9th column I discussed the future trends and directions of the knowledge society. And with a special note on how this will impact the common school of Denmark - or at least how it should impact the school system.

I realized that something interesting is going on in the world of knowledge sharing - in my head we are currently transforming from knowledge-gathers to knowledge-innovators.

Citizens IT-security

Posted by Christian Wernberg-Tougaard on Thursday, April 24. 2008 at 11:45 in Impact on society
Yesterday the Danish Board of Technology announced the report: "Citizens IT-security" where they proposed several initiatives to help citizens become more it-security agile.

Eventhough some of the suggestions are controversial, I think that we need to do something - it is now time to really make sure that we have citizens to trust the common infrastructure - and that they can trust the services that are provided digital.

I have had the pleasure to comment the report for two months ago - and I'm pleased that some of my thinking has been reflected in the report.

Chineese state-hacking?

Posted by Christian Wernberg-Tougaard on Tuesday, April 15. 2008 at 20:02 in Security in IT
I was today interviewed by the national radio (www.tv2radio.dk) in the show called "Nyhedsministeriet" on the Pentagon annual report - especially on the fact that the chineese government is sponsoring and supporting hacking activities aimed to distort US military capability.

Below a summary of the interview and some further comments...

Column VIII: Acceptable in the 80's

Posted by Christian Wernberg-Tougaard on Friday, April 4. 2008 at 14:12 in Security in IT
IT-security ...

Many sees this as a nerdy disciplin and do not really understand the consequences of lack of it-security. And this leads to faulty conclusions and strategies.

Recently the Danish Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation choosen to inaugurate a new committee on IT-security - and the colum this time is about how "Old school" and how stuck in the 80's the operationalization of this area is on the Danish agenda.

Column VI: Who watches the watchers?

Posted by Christian Wernberg-Tougaard on Tuesday, April 1. 2008 at 08:53 in Impact on society
I admit that I like Star Trek - TNG especially. Which by the way stands for The Next Generation, a subject often pursued here at the Digitized Service Society blog.

One of the espisodes in STTNG is dealing with the consequences of breaking the prime directive (which states loosely that you may not interfere with minor cultures societal development) as the question becomes: "Who watches the watcher?"

In my 6th column in Børsen - the largest business daily in Denmark - I address the challenges that the government faces as they allow more and more video-survailance - and the question is: Who is watching the watchers? - or in Danish "Hvem overvåger overvågerne?".

The Council of Greater IT-security

Posted by Christian Wernberg-Tougaard on Friday, March 28. 2008 at 11:24 in Security in IT

The next generation of it-security thought leadership have been realized in Denmark - with the creation of the Council of Greater IT-security (in Danish: Rådet for større IT-sikkerhed) - an independent advisory board and action comittee focused on leveraging the challenges of it-security in the now and next digitized service society.

And I'm pleased to be named (temp) chairman of the awareness raising and knowledge comittee.

Bonus Pater Digitalis?

Posted by Christian Wernberg-Tougaard on Thursday, March 27. 2008 at 09:40 in Impact on society
In Danish law the right behavior, the person that do what expected, is called "Bonus Pater". I would like to extend that notion to the Digitized Service Society.

We need to define the role model that stands as the best example of a citizen in the digital service society - what will such a person do, how will he act and so forth...

Needless to say there are moral issues and other legal issues that can be included - but in my point of view these are relevant but not part of the model currently.
